This week, the discredited, indicted, and federally investigated Southern Poverty Law Center released its annual “Year in Hate & Extremism” report as CEO Bryan Fair was grilled by Congress over the organization’s shady practices – namely, directly funding radical groups like the KKK. The report once again included Louisiana Family Forum along with Focus on the Family, the Family Research Council, Alliance Defending Freedom, and many other allies on its “hate map.”

In response to media inquiries on LFF’s SPLC designation, we issued the following statement:
LFF exists to advocate for a biblical worldview of life, eternity, and human flourishing – including human sexuality, grounded in the biblical view of biological sex, lifelong marriage, the traditional family, and the blessing of children. We understand these are timeless truths held by the overwhelming majority of Louisiana residents.
We dismiss the baseless claims of the Southern Poverty Law Center. The SPLC is currently under federal indictment on 11 counts of wire fraud, false statements to a federally insured bank, and conspiracy to commit money laundering. The SPLC has, through false narratives, faulty reasoning, and its widely criticized “hate map,” contributed to a climate of hostility toward organizations like ours. We are reminded of the 2012 attack on the Washington, D.C. office of the Family Research Council, carried out by an individual who cited the SPLC’s designations – an attack in which an employee was severely wounded. The murder of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, fatally shot on September 10, 2025, may likewise have been inspired by SPLC-fueled rhetoric.
Regardless of the hyper-sexualized and political narrative SPLC employs in its struggle to redefine “hate,” Louisiana Family Forum is honored to stand upon Biblical Truth and will continue to do so.
The Golden Rule, embedded in the two Greatest Commandments, remains our standard: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength, and love your neighbor as yourself” (Mark 12:30).
We hold no ill will toward the SPLC or its adherents, but we consider their thesis and advocacy to be contrary to Biblical Orthodoxy.
