Donald and Barbara were high school sweethearts and married at Centenary United Methodist Church in Rayne, Louisiana, on January 25, 1958. Both college students at that time, Donald was 20, and Barbara was 19. As residents of Rayne, they did not own a vehicle, so they would either take the bus that stopped at Town House restaurant or hitchhike Highway 90 to get to school at USL. They completed their degrees and went on to become educators in the public and private school systems.
They were blessed with four children and 10 grandchildren and are expecting their first great-grandchild in June of this year. Now ages 88 and 87, they are overall healthy and still very independent.
