Nettie & Conrad Simoneaux
MARRIED: January 12, 1953 - 73 Years
Lafayette, Louisiana
Conrad and Nettie grew up in Rayne and married in Virginia Beach, VA, while my dad was in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He shipped off to Greenland not long after they married, and Mom took the train back to Louisiana while he was deployed. They have 3 children and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren. They have 5 generations, and they all love getting everyone together.
Theirs is a true love story. They have lived a great life and traveled through most of the US and Canada. They were Airstreamers for many years and enjoyed traveling, camping, and touring through our beautiful country. Nettie has many scrapbooks and photos of their travels and still loves to reminisce about their adventures.
Their home parish is St Joseph’s Catholic Church in Rayne. With their advanced age, they now attend Mass on TV with Heart of the Nation catholic Mass. They have a special relationship with Fr. Mike Arnaud (retired priest). They have instilled the importance of daily prayer and faith in their entire family. Nettie still bakes a birthday cake for Jesus on Christmas for everyone to sing Happy Birthday and to celebrate His life.
My parents were great role models of strength, love, Faith and family. Their children consider themselves blessed to still have them in their lives. They all still play cards with them every Friday night!
