The Mathernes celebrated their 74th wedding anniversary on June 10, 2025, having been married since June 10, 1951.
White (Harrison), now 96, and Jeanette, now 89, met at one of the infamous dance halls on Bayou Lafourche in the post WWII era. After White asked for her hand in marriage, they built a life together in Raceland while Paw-Paw worked as a tugboat captain and Maw-Maw managed the home and was a sitter for the elderly.
They’ve faced health issues in recent years, but their commitment to faith, family gatherings, and simple joys has kept them strong. White and Jeanette are members of St. Mary’s Nativity Catholic Church Parish in Raceland, LA.
